Baseball legend Hank Aaron was turning 83-years-old, and his birthday party was one that needed to be remembered for years to come. As the former Braves PR Director, Bob Hope was asked by Hank Aaron to help him publicize his birthday party, as all net proceeds from the event would benefit Hank and Billye Aarons’ Chasing The Dream Foundation.
Under the direction of Bob Hope, HBI took on A Salute to the Life and Times of Henry Aaron as a pro-bono account. The HBI team needed to publicize and promote the event as both Hank Aaron’s birthday party and a fundraiser for the Aarons’ nonprofit foundation. With a turnaround time of just three weeks, the HBI team needed to secure as much media coverage as possible both pre and post event to sell tickets and generate publicity for the foundation.
HBI secured numerous local, regional and national media coverage for A Salute to the Life and Times of Henry Aaron both leading up to and after the event itself. HBI secured interviews on-site with CNN, MLB.com and WSB – just to name a few stations. In all, HBI garnered more than 7 million impressions in a matter of weeks.
