Norfolk Southern Corporation is a leading transportation and logistics company that plays a critical role in the movement of goods across the Eastern United States. In November 2021, the company opened its new Atlanta headquarters, marking one of the most significant commercial real estate developments in the region in recent years.

The Brief 

Norfolk Southern sought strategic media and publicity support for the grand opening of its new Atlanta headquarters. HBE was engaged to generate widespread media coverage, coordinate press engagement, and manage stakeholder visibility surrounding the event. The goal was to successfully break through a crowded news cycle while highlighting both the scale of the development and Norfolk Southern’s long-term commitment to the Atlanta community.

The Solution

HBE worked closely with Norfolk Southern to plan and execute all event-related media and publicity efforts. This included organizing a high-profile ribbon-cutting ceremony and coordinating guided building tours for press and VIP attendees.

To maximize coverage, HBE secured exclusive media placement with the Atlanta Business Chronicle while also conducting targeted outreach to local, trade, and commercial real estate outlets. In parallel, HBE orchestrated a strategic donation announcement—Norfolk Southern’s southern railway archives being donated to the Atlanta History Center—to broaden the narrative and emphasize corporate goodwill.

Key public officials, civic leaders, and stakeholders were invited and confirmed to attend, further elevating the profile and significance of the event.
