When it comes to a public relations strategy, the powers that be at Joi Internet have been letting the service speak for itself.

With Web access for less than $10 a month, it was hard to argue that they needed to spend a lot to get people talking.

Not anymore.

The Atlanta-based ISP has hired Hope-Beckham public relations to take the message of its discount offerings nationwide.

"Word-of-mouth has worked very well for them as far as signing customers," said Kevin Sullivan, vice president at Hope-Beckham. "But public relations is something that they had never really done."

Now the Internet service provider wants to go to the next level, which includes making sure the media know about the product, Sullivan said.

For its part, Joi hired Hope-Beckham because of its experience working with technology companies.

"We decided it was time to spread the word further," said Joi President Joe Egosi in a statement. "Hope-Beckham has a solid track record working with technology companies, and they quickly proved to us that they can deliver on their promises."<
