Colorado Silver Bullets

Colorado Silver Bullets
The Colorado Silver Bullets baseball team was a promotion for Coors Light, and more importantly, it was a pioneering venture for women in sports. Coors Light challenged Hope-Beckham to create a program that would present Coors as a booster of women’s rights and opportunities, and could also support its overall sports initiative. Hope-Beckham’s solution was to create the first ever women’s professional baseball team. The Colorado Silver Bullets were launched in 1994 and received extensive media coverage. They were covered not only on sports pages, but also in Newsweek, ESPN, NBC Nightly News and other major media outlets from coast to coast. Over four seasons, the team had its games televised 60 times nationally. Coors was awarded the Women’s Sports Foundation “Pioneer Award” and was recognized from the floor of Congress for its contributions to women’s sports. The Silver Bullets have their own section in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
